Shootenanny!

My life is complete: I have the new Eels record.

Okay, that may be overstating matter slightly, but it's a very good record. You probably have no idea how much I love the Eels; they are one of the few music acts around who have the power to make me go all stupid teenage girlish and starry-eyed with excitement and whatnot (the others coming to mind at present being Mclusky and Candye Kane). I just fucking love them to bits. I love their pairing of happy-tinkly music and freaky-scary lyrics. I love their tendency to just randomly rock out. And I've always really admired Mr E's way of writing incredibly beautiful love songs, and then giving them names like 'It's a Motherfucker' (Daisies of the Galaxy), 'World of Shit' (Souljacker), and, on the new album, 'Restraining Order Blues' (okay so that one may fall slightly short of the beauty mark of the others but it's, uh, heartfelt, if not actually personal).

And Shootenanny! is a good, good, good record. Oh, my. I'm going to stop talking about it now, because otherwise I will keep going on and on about it like the sad little fangirl I am. Seriously.

However, I would like to mention that the Eels are the band I would most like to see cover 'Cherry Pie'. Just because.

I also bought a second-hand copy of Linda Jaivin's Confessions of an S&M Virgin for $1. Score!

And I found out I've been kicking arse and taking names in my History subject - the subject I'm always paranoid and sure I'm failing horribly. Hello, HD average for the first time in my academic career. Now I just need to get through the exam and I'll be smirking like Chesh.

I don't know what else to say when I've said everything I can and it hasn't made a difference. I'm lost as to where I'm supposed to find the words to express something I thought was clear but evidently is not. Something that perhaps should be a bumblebee but feels more like a knife. So I keep smiling. Always smiling.

Well. That was divergent, no?
