September 08, 2003 @ 4:28 p.m. As of 3am today, I now have a niece. Alexandra Isobelle (actually I'm not sure how Sis and Bro-in-Law have decided to spell her middle name, I'm taking a punt). I am full of mushy feelings, despite not having seen her yet, what with that branch of the family living a couple of hundred kilometres away. But I really like the name they picked. And it will actually go with their surname. Very few first names do, what with their surname being a strong and kind of ugly German name (no, arseholes, not Hitler). I got the call at 7am and ran down the hallway squealing, endearing myself to my housemates even moreso. Then, being sleep deprived, I went back to sleep. Woke up two or so hours later to get ready for Uni, rang Stu and said "you're an uncle now!" and he said "cool!" and I said "yep, your sister's knocked up." The first rule of being Rev is that you never miss even the slightest opportunity to be a little bit evil. I really don't have anything else to say. I'm pathetically ecstatic. I probably won't be meeting her until this weekend, which I'm looking forward to. I suppose now that I have the niece I was hoping for, I'd better start preparing that lecture on the evils of the patriarchy. I've only got a decade or so in which to prepare, and where to begin? |
